What is the...?

Jewish Nature Center Trees

One generation goes and another generation comes,
but the earth endures forever.
Ecclesiastes 1:4

The Jewish Nature Center exists to promote Jewish Environmental Nature Education in all types of formal and informal educational settings. The Center pioneers new ways of making nature a partner in Jewish education, develops curriculum integrating Jewish studies and nature experiences, explores the application of ancient Jewish ecological wisdom to contemporary Jewish life and serves as a forum for Jewish naturalists, environmentalists, educators and students.

The Center was established in May of 1997 and is located on the 1250 acre campgrounds of the New Jersey YMHA-YWHA Camps in rural Milford, PA. We are committed to working with Jewish camps, congregations, youth groups, schools, Hillel's, JCC's and other Jewish organizations across North America to achieve the common goal of making earth stewardship a valued part of Jewish life.

We are always glad to hear from "kindred souls" and hope you will not hesitate to contact us to introduce yourself. Reference the subject area as Shalom.  Have fun and don't forget to check the Sponsor of the Month. You never know who or what the Sponsor will be!

Jewish Nature Center Programs are for Everyone!!!

VARIED! This is the key word to remember about Jewish Nature Center programs.  Our programs include everything from interactive Jewish nature hikes or in-class presentations to nature skills workshops, staff development programs and wilderness canoe trips. In response to the increasing demand for spiritual programming, we now offer a series of spiritual meditation workshops that are firmly rooted in our ancient Jewish traditions. Our goal is to provide you with a program that meets your needs, fits well within your schedule and engages your participants in ways that are fun and challenging.

Should you be searching for a DIFFERENT kind of experience for your staff or students, your search has just ended.  We work with Hillels, JCCs, congregations, youth organizations, Jewish federations, colleges and schools of all types and descriptions. What makes our programs most unique is that they lead to increased self-esteem while being fun and challenging.

If you would like to contact some of the fine people who have participated in Jewish Nature Center programs, feel free to email us and we'll put you in touch with them.

If you already know you would like to host a Jewish Nature Center program, contact me A/S/A/P because our program dates are quickly filling up for the coming year.
