First of all, I've heard all of the jokes – "stop loafing around," "anything you knead," "can you lend me some dough," "good looking buns" – I've heard
them all. And when you get through laughing, pay attention. We've got a problem. Did you know that there are only 20% as many kosher bakeries today as they were when the Russians launched the first
satellite, Sputnik? You know what that means? That means there is only 20% as much fresh-baked challah and bagels reaching the hands of the next generation of Jewish teachers, scholars, rabbis, parents,
community leaders. That's right. We're raising the next generation of Jews on frozen bagels and plastic challah. And people wonder what's happening to today's youth. I say BRING BACK FRESHLY
BAKED BREAD. And speaking of myself, let me remind you just how much you missed me when you were doing your matzah thing. I don't care how you disguise that stuff or what you put on it, you and I both
know that "man cannot live on matzah alone." Don't even try.
