Sock Gardens
Starting your own wild flower and wild plant garden requires very little effort and now is the best time of year to do this project.
Start by wearing an old sweat sock over your shoes and walk through a field. You might walk through several different areas. What will happen is that the seeds from various plants will adhere to the sweat socks. When you have collected enough seeds, plant each sock in a flowerpot and put it in a sunny window. Water well, keep the soil moist and within a week you'll begin to see your surprise garden sprouting. If you want, save the second sock to plant outdoors in late spring or early summer. No two sock gardens are ever alike.
