The Beaver
The Jewish Nature Center is pleased to have the Beaver as our Sponsor of the Month
Glad to be here but I only have a minute. I'm awfully busy right now, might say – "As busy as a beaver." I've been working on a dam
out in Montana. Bunch of us beavers are trying to break the old record – great-granddad was part of a crew that built a dam 2,140 long and ten feet wide at its base.
We got our tails crossed that we'll reach 2,500 feet. So, can't spend too long with you.
Lots of folks get upset with us because they go and build houses where we dam up streams and the next thing we know, those folks is damming us.
Heck, it's not just for us that we build our dams. Long before you folks came along to be keepers of the earth, we beavers were creating ponds for animals to drink from, sources of water for plants – and even home for fish. Speaking of fish, I'm getting a little hungry. And don't go thinking about making me a meal, I'm not a kosher animal. Go pick on a cow or something.
And the next time you do a crossword puzzle, know that baby beavers are called "kittens" or just "kits."
